Experiment

This image was taken with film and a plastic lens. It was a double exposure that I try light leaking. I ran it through a Photo shop filter to get the glowing edges. The shape of the head looks like it’s at a profile angle but it’s not, I like the trick it does on the eye.

photofest@lbcc

The Photography Program at Long Beach City College will be hosting their 4th annual PhotoFest@LBCC during the month of April, 2011. The theme for this year's festival is Photography Now, as we look at how photographers are blurring the boundaries between photography's various genres and techniques. The 4th Annual PhotoFest at Long Beach City College is expanding to become a citywide and month-long festival of free photography-related events and celebrations throughout the month of April. Our goal is to celebrate photography and it's impact on our world while providing opportunities for photographers to socialize and share their enthusiasm for photography.

The main emphasis of the festival will be the workshops, demonstrations, art walks, exhibitions and seminars held throughout the month of April. These events are free, open to students and the general public as well, and are suitable for all levels of expertise. The festival will feature a Photography contest that is open to all LBCC students. Our opening event will be the April 1st ArtWalk at Bixby Knolls and our 2nd Saturday ArtWalk exhibition and reception will showcase work from the LBCC photography program as well as reveal the photography contest winners.
Dates and Locations

Festival Seminars will be held at multiple locations throughout Long Beach with a core group of events to be held at the Liberal Arts Campus at Long Beach City College. The campus is located at 4901 E. Carson Street, Long Beach, CA. Full details are on registration pages.

Easter Isaac

I was shooting my Godson’s Easter pictures today and he wouldn’t sit still of course, he is a big clown and I caught this image of him and I know his mom can’t use it for an Easter greeting or anything but I like this one. At first I cropped his hand out of the image and liked the cropped version but the hand with its bent fingers grew on me the more I stared at it. The hand adds this awkwardness to the image and I like that, so I kept the hand in.

Ramón in Leather Jacket

This is a guy I have shot a few times. He hired me when I knew very little about photography when I was still shooting on different automatic modes with my Canon Rebel. This is a recent shoot; doesn’t he look like Robert De Niro a little bit?

Nude H1N1

I took this image a few semesters ago for a homework assignment which was pick a current event. I picked H1N1 and the nudity is about the vulnerability we have to the media but there isn’t anything in the mage portraying the media. I thought it was a little hilarious when I was riding the bus and everyone was wearing germ mask. I should have shot that. Lol

Ricky With Light Leaks

I finally got an image with the creative use of a light leak, I couldn't be more thrilled. This image was shot with my holga (film) for my American Asylum project.

Christian

This is my attempt at being more contemporary and using little to no Photoshop.

Size Matters

My friend Steven is half black and half Mexican. He recently told me that guys always ask him which half is his penis. I thought of this concept for him for a portrait. We grossly enlarge his penis too big I hope for any race. The penis is a cow tongue for the Mexican market. This was a fun and gross test shoot, more straight photos to come.
