Chelcee Wood

Chelcee was my last student at The Center. I ended my photo workshop on the 1st of October. I had done it for a year and I figured it was time to move on and bring photography somewhere else. I was able to give Chelcee a film camera that someone had donated to my workshop. These pictures are from her first few rolls of film. I think she is very talented and should pursue a career in photography. She wants to be a film maker which is close enough for me.

If you would like to hire or follow Chelcee’s photographic journey please follow and support her Business Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Chelceebphotography

Press Telegram 2.0

I was interviewed by the Press Telegram about Long Beach City College’s photo program being cut. Photography changed my life; we must work as a community to save the LBCC photo program.

Jeff (Out Takes)

I photographed Jeff during the summer and these were the two pictures I liked the most, they have some minor flaws like a cut off hand in one. I had planned to re-photograph Jeff to fine tune our photo magic together, but the second shoot hasn’t happened. I keep coming back to look at these. I decided to post them anyway. Musicians have B-sides and outtakes of their catalogues and I figured why can’t photographers.

SF Marathon

I was in San Fran photographing my Tia Linda; she was running the SF Marathon. I mentioned before that I didn’t have a mom or dad growing up. What I did have was my grandma and my four aunts. This is my Tia Linda. It was Linda who developed my creative spirit. When I was young she would lend me her Nirvana and Michael Jackson CDs. She taught me how to high kick like Madonna. She was the 1st person to tell me about Van Gogh. I owe her the world; she inspired me then and still does today.

Photo Workshop (update)

Last Monday we made jewelry boxes in my photo workshop at the Center. I had originally wanted to do it for Valentine’s Day but it’s sometimes takes me while to afford all the supplies for my workshop. The students were really into it. I went to a few local cigar stores and they donated the cigar boxes for us to use. Like they say Better late than never.

I’m also raising money for us to put together a photo book. We have been shooting since October of last year. If you would like to donate to this cause please contact me at thesaltypoet@aol.com

Last I also have two star students who would benefit from owning their own DSLRs. I plan to write Canon and see if I can get them each a digital rebel. Which was my first camera but also looking for used ones. If you can help please contact me at thesaltypoet@aol.com .

Palos Verdes Art Center Exhibit

Palos Verdes Art Center

Photography Exhibition
Friday June 29, 2012 5pm to 7pm

550 Deep Valley Drive Suite 261
Rolling Hills Estates CA 90274

Please come out and support Anthony Castro’s current photography
exhibit at the Palos Verdes Art Center.

My current photographic project is a series of portraits of men that
live in my neighborhood. Keeping with the theme from my first project
I’m continuing to use my local community as a source of photographic
inspiration. I challenge the idea that a photographer has to leave home
to create. Through the photographic process, I developed a sense of
home pride.
